We follow the beliefs and tenants of the United Methodist Church as laid out in our Book of Discipline. We believe God is one in three persons, Jesus is the Son of God and our Savior, and the Holy Spirit is always present with us. We believe humans were created to be in relationship with God, the Church universal is the body of Christ in the world today, and the Bible is the primary source for our faith. We believe God is alive and reigning over creation and will restore all creation one day. For more details on our faith and beliefs, please visit our denomination's website.
At Aldersgate UMC, we believe faith is more than what happens on Sunday mornings; it is a part of who we are, inside and out. We believe in sharing the joy of the gospel daily and living a life that embodies the spirit of Christ.
We follow and live the Mission Statement of The United Methodist Church: We exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Learn more about our Mission Statement here.
We follow and live the Vision Statement of The United Methodist Church: We form disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities and worldwide connections. Learn more about our Vision Statement here.
We strive to be Christ-like in all our ways. We understand Christ to be loving, kind, forgiving, compassionate, humble, grace-giving, and understanding. We practice being Christ-like both inside and outside the church.
We believe we have been called to serve God and out neighbor. We serve locally, nationally, and globally in a variety of ways. Visit our Missions page to see ways we serve God and neighbor.
We care about each other and see the power of connection, support, accountability, and helping one another. We gather in a variety of ways to grow relationships inside the church and extend relationship outside the church.
God hasn't called us to be perfect, God calls us to be faithful. We strive to be faithful by sharing our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness to God through our church.
We believe God accepts us as we are and we commit to accepting everyone just as they are. We want everyone to have a seat at the table and to feel comfortable to come as you are.
We believe each person is on a journey toward wholeness - fully healed, fully in God, fully loving. Much like puzzle pieces, each person is looking for where they fit in this world. At Aldersgate, we commit to walking this journey together. Our goal is to connect people to Jesus Christ so that lives, communities, and the world are transformed. We are striving to put the pieces together through support, acceptance, relationships, and faith, all through the power of God, so that all people can move from pieces to peace.
