They Call Themselves "The Piecemakers"
They are a group of individuals who meet weekly for the purpose of constructing prayer quilts. Their goal is to have a quilt delivered to the recipient while they are still hospitalized due to a serious illness or surgery. If circumstances allow, the quilts are placed on display during worship services prior to being forwarded to the Pastor for delivery.
This ministry has been active for several years and supported by both the congregation and the church. While most of the income for prayer quilt supplies is by donation, the church provides a room for the ministry as well as several sewing machines and sergers.
The Prayer Quilt Ministry usually meets every Tuesday at 9am to noon in Room #1 of the Family Life Center. During the summer, they are meeting on Fridays. All are invited to attend and enjoy the fellowship! Knowledge of sewing is NOT a requirement! If you would like to learn to sew quilts, come join us and they will teach you!
Attendees included: Norma Taylor, Marcia Sova, Kenda Thurmond, Arlene Acosta, Janet Hornbeck, Sandra Fojtik, and Susan Harryman.
There were lots of door prizes! After class they took their instructor to lunch.
She did an awesome job for us.
They plan to have more retreats in the future.
